Academic Summary
Bede’s offers an inclusive and supportive academic environment, providing a broad and varied curriculum to suit a wide range of abilities and interests. Students can choose from GCSEs, A-levels, BTEC qualifications, the International Foundation Programme (IFP), and the Bede’s Diploma. Despite its relatively non-selective intake, Bede’s consistently achieves results that are significantly above the national average.
English Language Support
The EAL (English as an Additional Language) Department at Bede’s supports second language learners as well as encourage them to share their cultures with others, whether they are native to the UK or from one of the many countries we have represented here at Bede’s. We offer a number of language qualifications, which are vital for students in terms of the next step of their academic life, and to thrive in their studies. The experienced staff help every EAL student with their language development, in addition to academic and pastoral support on a daily basis.
Extra-Curricular Activities
Bede’s offers a rich and varied programme of extra-curricular activities, allowing students to explore their interests, develop new skills, and pursue their passions beyond the classroom. The school boasts a thriving Football Academy, giving talented players expert coaching, competitive match experience, and access to excellent training facilities. In addition, pupils can enjoy a wide range of sports, music, drama, arts, clubs, societies, and leadership opportunities. Accommodation
Bede’s offers welcoming and comfortable boarding accommodation, providing a true home-from-home experience for its students. With a range of boarding houses, pupils enjoy a supportive and inclusive environment, guided by experienced house staff who ensure their wellbeing and personal development. Boarding life at Bede’s combines pastoral care, academic support, and a rich programme of extracurricular activities, helping students build independence, friendships, and a strong sense of community.
Facilities
Bede’s offers outstanding facilities designed to inspire learning, creativity, and personal growth. Its modern classrooms, well-equipped science laboratories, and specialist art, music, and drama studios provide students with the ideal environment to explore their talents. Extensive sports facilities include playing fields, a swimming pool, fitness suite, and an equestrian centre, while dedicated boarding houses create a comfortable and supportive home-from-home atmosphere. Boarding Community
In September 2022, we opened our new boarding house - Dorms House. The stunning new development features inspiration from its location next to the South Downs and includes modern facilities, accommodating 70 beds, as well as a 170 square metre atrium, learning spaces, flexible spaces for meetings and conferences, offices, kitchen facilities and storage areas. It also uses an eco-friendly heat source as part of the Trust's pledge to reduce its carbon footprint.
