One-Year GCSE
Our One-Year GCSE programme offers an accelerated pathway for students who wish to strengthen their academic portfolio and achieve ambitious results in a single year.
Students can choose from an extensive range of subjects – including separate sciences, six modern and ancient languages, and a rich selection of humanities, creative and physical disciplines. The programme is designed to stretch, support and inspire, helping students build strong foundations for Sixth Form and beyond.
Early application for this programme is encouraged to ensure expectations around subject choices can be met. Once option blocks are set in March, subjects will depend upon availability and capacity.

Led by specialist teachers and grounded in leading research, our programme provides consistent, structured support across all subjects.
Our Head of International Students, Miss Natalie Cheers, ensures staff are equipped with effective strategies to help students excel. The exceptional 2025 results – with every Year 11 EAL student achieving grade 9 – show the impact of this approach.

Extra-Curricular Activities
At Royal High we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom. Our vibrant co-curricular programme is a cornerstone of school life; designed to inspire, challenge and empower every girl to explore her passions, develop new talents, and grow into a confident, capable young woman.
Rooted in our values of curiosity, confidence and connections, our extensive range of clubs, societies, and enrichment opportunities offers something for everyone. Whether it’s debating global issues, performing on stage, representing the school in sport, or volunteering in the community, our girls are encouraged to step forward, try something new, and lead with confidence.
Participation in co-curricular activities nurtures essential life skills; resilience, teamwork, leadership, and time management that prepare our students not just for academic success, but for life beyond school. From the adventurous spirit of the Duke of Edinburgh Award to the camaraderie of team sports and the innovation of STEM clubs, every experience is designed to support development and personal growth.
Our fun packed weekend programme encourages boarding girls to try new experiences – we actively support our girls as they step outside their comfort zone in a safe, and caring environment.
Every weekend and during the evenings our boarders have access to the on-site fitness suite, our Steinway Music School and recording studio, and the Library as well as beautiful grounds overlooking Bath. We have links with other local schools, the local tennis club, nearby riding stables and have access to Bath University's sports facilities.
With the safe city of Bath on the doorstep, our boarders benefit from all that it has to offer. From visiting the Roman Baths and Fashion Museum to shopping in the lively cosmopolitan Southgate area and not forgetting the annual Bath Festival. Your daughter will enjoy trips further afield too – from theatre visits in London to rock climbing in the Avon Gorge.

Pastoral Care
Royal High is a school where every girl matters, every voice is heard, and everyone is empowered to explore and to try anything. We want every girl to enjoy their time at Royal High and achieve their potential. We know girls achieve their best and are most motivated to learn when they are happy and feel supported and valued.
At the heart of what we do is a desire to educate and empower a school of curious young people by equipping them with the skills, confidence and compassion to live a life unlimited. Along with the academic excellence the school is renowned for, we pride ourselves on how we nurture compassion as much as excellence, where girls spark off one another and support each other as they build skills and confidence for learning and in life.
Every girl has the freedom to express herself individually and collectively, explore what excites her and experience new interests, independence, friendships and sisterhood, which will take them way beyond the classroom.
We take mental and physical health and well-being very seriously at Royal High Bath and have a comprehensive pastoral structure in place throughout the School.
